Mary C. August of Galt, passed away in Lodi on October 22, 2004 at the age of 88. Mrs. August was born in Hilo, Hawaii on April 3, 1916 to Joseph and Mary Carvalho. The family moved to Isleton when she was a young girl. She married Antonio P. August in 1937, and eventually they moved to Lodi. She had been a sorter at H.J. Hintz Company for 30 years before she retired. Mary moved to Galt five years ago to be with her daughter. She was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church and Legions of Mary. Mrs. August is survived by her daughter, Mary Winters of Galt; 3 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Fred Carvalho of Stockton, Willie Carvalho of Rio Vista; 1 sister, Rose Silva of Sacramento. She was preceded in death by her husband, Antonio August in 1986 and 5 brothers, Tony, Peter, Henry, Manuel and Joe Carvalho. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:00 AM at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Lodi with Father Jairo Ramirez and Deacon Don Bo as celebrants. Committal will immediately follow at Cherokee Memorial Park. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be said on Wednesday at 7:00 PM by Deacon Karl Welsbacher at Lodi Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will begin on Tuesday at 8:00 AM until 8:00 PM and continue on Wednesday at 8:00 AM until 8:00 PM. at Lodi Funeral Home.
