DELBERT ERNEST LOEWEN, Age 94 of Lodi, passed away on October 13th. Delbert was born on June 12, 1910 in Hitchcock, Oklahoma to Peter W. and Anna Loewen. The family moved to Lodi when Delbert was ten years old. He attended local schools and graduated from Lodi Academy. He was married to Elsie Pauline Brown on December 19, 1932 in Oakland and the couple made their home in Lodi. During his business years, he co-owned Loewen Auto Co. with his father, Peter Walter Loewen until 1971. It was a family business which employed his daughters, sons-in-law, and a grandson. Delbert loved automobiles and particularly the association of friends and customers as he continued to work until age 88 for the subsequent Buick dealers of Lodi. Delbert was the last living Charter Member of the Lodi Lions Club and a Life Member and served as the third president from 1942-43. He enjoyed Lions Club activities, holding nearly every office and attended International Lions Club functions, for over 60 years. He was also a member of English Oaks Seventh-day Adventist Church. He is survived by his wife, Mildred Loewen of Lodi; daughters, Dolores Scott of Loma Linda, Faye Heldoorn and husband James of Gardnerville, Nevada; Sandra Loewen of Old Hickory, Tennessee; sister, Beatrice Loewen-Cobia of Lodi; Grandchildren, James Randall Scott (Lori), Julie Scott-Leeper (Jeffrey), Geoffrey Heldoorn (Jeanmarie), Kenton Heldoorn, Todd Heldoorn, Lisa Breckenridge-Cohen (Andy ), Mitzie Breckenridge, Stephanie Breckenridge-Dickinson (Mark), Tiffany Breckenridge; 7 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by first wife, Elsie Pauline Loewen in 1975; second wife, Marjorie Rose Loewen in 1993; parents, Peter W. and Anna Loewen; brother, Marvin E. Loewen. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 24th at 10 a.m. at Lodi Funeral Home with Pastor Wayne Young of English Oaks Seventh-day Adventist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Cherokee Memorial Park. Visitation will begin on Thursday, Oct 21st from noon to 8 p.m., Friday 8 a.m. to 8 pm., Sat. 9 a.m. to 8 p.m..
