Obituary of Mildred Maybelle Wendell

Mildred T. Wendell, 95, of Lodi passed away Friday morning, October 8, 2004, at home. Mildred Maybelle Tate was born January 25, 1909 in Stoneham, Mass. and was a twin to Myrna and older sister to Muriel. She graduated from Pine Academy in Maine and graduated from nursing at New England Sanitarium in 1930. She married Franklyn R. Wendell in 1933. She worked as a nurse until Franklyn finished medical school. She retired from nursing and devoted the rest of her life to her husband, children and extended family. In 1949 they moved to Lodi where Franklyn started his medical practice. She taught children Sabbath School English Oaks SDA church for over thirty years. She was a member of English Oaks Seventh-Day Adventist and San Joaquin Medical Women's Auxiliary. She wrote poetry and also loved animals and music. She is survived by her three sons, John F. "Jack" Wendell and Daniel H. Wendell, both of Lodi and Forrest R. Wendell of Placerville; daughter, Melody Reiswig of Lodi; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of San Joaquin, 3888 Pacific Avenue, Stockton, CA 95204-1953. A graveside service will be held at Cherokee Memorial Park on Wednesday at 3:00 PM. Friends are invited for visitation on Tuesday from 8:00 AM until 8:00 PM, continuing Wednesday, 8:00 AM until 1:00 PM. at Lodi Funeral Home.
