Mr. Ira C. Smith of Stockton passed away Tuesday September 7, 2004 in a Stockton hospital at the age of 80. Mr. Smith was born April 27, 1924 in Pryor, Oklahoma to Silas and Nora Smith. Mr. Smith worked as a Materials Expeditor for the Sharpe Army Depot for 32 years, before retiring in 1980. Mr. Smith was a United States Army and WWII veteran. Mr. Smith was a long time member and Sunday School Teacher of the Calvary First Assembly of God Church in Stockton. He also served as a minister at the Stockton Gospel Rescue Mission for 35 years, as well as a volunteer for the 3-M Program at California Youth Authority in Stockton. He will be best remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather and also for his "gift of helps". Mr. Smith was very giving of his time and enjoyed sharing spiritual gifts with others. He will be dearly missed. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mrs. Dorothy Smith of Stockton; 2 sons, David Smith and Stan Smith of Lodi; 2 daughters Carole Good of Lathrop; Sherri Sumstine of Lodi; 2 brothers, Marvin Smith of Medford, OR; Ray Ennis of Linden; 1 sister, Susan Rodick of Lebanon, OK; 2 grandchildren, Mike and Stephanie Sumstine of Lodi. He was preceded in death by 1 brother, Ralph Smith in 1989; 1 sister, Lee McClosky 2001. A church service will be held Monday September 13, 2004, 10:00 am at the Calvary First Assembly of God Church in Stockton. Private interment will be at the Lodi Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday 2:00-7:00 pm at the Lodi Funeral Home. A virtual register book may be signed at www.lodifuneralhome.com where memories may be shared.
