Alvin Patzer of Elk Grove, formerly of Lodi, passed away in Elk Grove on July 23 at the age of 87. Mr. Patzer was born in Delmont, South Dakota on December 18, 1916 to John and Lydia Patzer. He and his family moved to Modesto when he was 5 years old. He attended barber school and then on March 1, 1936, he married Dorothy Nichols in Lodi and from 1935 until 1984, he was a barber in Lodi, owner of Al's Barbershop. Al was in the United States Army during WWII, fighting in France and Germany. Mr. Patzer enjoyed all types of sports, particularly playing the game of golf. He enjoyed music of the 40's and 50's, Bing Crosby being his favorite. He enjoyed traveling, and while in Hawaii, he and Dorothy renewed their 50th wedding anniversary vows. He is survived by his beloved wife, Dorothy Patzer of Elk Grove; one daughter, Gerrol "Jerri" and husband, Ralph Scott of Elk Grove; granddaughter, Carrie and husband, Sam Jenkins of London, England and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Clara Pugh and Martha Hillman and brother, Reuben Patzer. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 8:00 AM until 8:00 PM at Lodi Funeral Home. Family services are private. Memorial contributions may be made to charity of donor?s choice.
