Helen Lucille Papke of Lodi passed away in Lodi on July 21, 2004 at the age of 89. Mrs. Papke was born on June 21, 1915 in Denhoff, North Dakota to Verne and Mary Warddrip. On June 30, 1933, she married Clarence Papke in North Dakota, and they moved to Lodi in 1934. She has lived in Lodi since that time. She and her husband owned and operated a dairy ranch for ten years. She also worked as a cook for Henderson School. She worked at Nash De Camp for 23 years, retiring in 1980. Mrs. Papke was a member of United Congregational Church. Her great love was being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, sharing in their lives. She also enjoyed cooking and reading. She is survived by her daughter, Donna and husband, Fred Keville of Lodi; granddaughter, Lori and husband, Tony Rothenberger of Galt; grandson, Keith Shaffer of Lodi; great-grandchildren, Katie Taylor and Brian DeHart and brother, Elroy Warddrip of Lodi. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clarence Papke in 1991; sister, Alma Sattler; brothers, Norman, Mike, Bill and Richard Warddrip. A graveside service will be held Monday at 9:30 AM at Cherokee Memorial Park with Reverend James Dawson of United Congregational Church officiating. There is no visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to Micke Grove Zoological Society, 11793 N. Micke Grove Road, Lodi, 95240; United Congregational Church, Youth Group, 701 S. Hutchins, Lodi, 95240; Hospice of San Joaquin, 2609 E. Hammer Lane, Stockton, 95210.
