Obituary of Erwin Peter Sailer

Erwin Peter Sailer of Lodi passed away in Lodi at the age of 88 on July 14, 2004. Mr. Sailer was born in North Dakota on December 15, 1915 to Rudolf and Rebecca Sailer. Mr. Sailer married Florence Mastel on March 23, 1942. He taught school for a number of years in North Dakota, and he owned and operated a men's clothing store and dry cleaning plant before moving to Lodi in 1949 where he owned and operated the Advance Cleaners for a number of years. He retired in 1979 after working for Guild Cleaners for ten years. Mr. Sailer was a member of St.Paul Lutheran Church. He was an avid golfer, and he enjoyed fishing. He is survived by his wife, Florence Sailer of Lodi; daughters, Jennifer and husband, Tom Peacock of Silver Spring, Maryland, Denise and husband, Craig Holmes of Stockton; Claudette and husband, Douglas Mattes of Linden; 5 grandchildren, Tammy Chaney, Jon-Paul Ollenberger, Lori Mattes, Scott Mattes and Michelle Holmes; 5 great-grandchildren; brothers, Elmer Sailer of North Dakota, Alfred Sailer of Minnesota, Richard Sailer of Iowa, Eugene Sailer of North Dakota; sisters, Ardella Hermann of North Dakota, Hertha Bureau of Iowa, Ruby Teske of North Dakota, Helen Sailer of North Dakota. He was preceded in death by his brother, Reynold Sailer and sister, Irene Sailer. A Chapel Service will be held at Lodi Funeral Home on Monday at 11:00 AM with Reverend Dennis Fakes of St. Paul Lutheran Church officiating. A committal will follow immediately at Cherokee Memorial Park. Visitation will be Saturday and Sunday at Lodi Funeral Home from 9:00 AM until 6:00 PM.
