Mr. Marvin Mayer a long life resident of Lodi passed away Saturday June 26, 2004 at his residence at the age of 78. Mr. Mayer was born in Tracy, California in 1925 to Gust and Emelia Mayer. Mr. Mayer owned and operated M. Mayer Vineyards in Lodi for the past 53 years. He simultaneously worked for Nor-Cal Beverage Co. and previously Canada Dry Beverage Co. in Lodi as a service manager for 18 years. Mr. Mayer was a WWII and United States Army Veteran. Marvin was founding and past commander of the Lodi V.F.W. Post 1968, a life member of the NRA and the Lodi Boat and Ski Club and he enjoyed a social coffee group at J&D?s Donuts. He had a passion for the vineyards and enjoyed reading, fishing, camping, hunting golfing and sharing his stories and generosity with his family and friends. He will be best remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mrs. Lorna Mayer of Lodi, 1 son, and daughter in-law Mark and Michelle Mayer of Lodi, 2 daughters and sons in-laws Diane and Ernie Meier of Lodi, Janis and Dan Christy of Lodi, 1 sister, Genevieve Schimke of Lodi, 9 grandchildren, Kerri Cooley of Stockton, Bryan Meier, Meghan Christy, Graham Christy, Christian Mayer, Weston Mayer, Mason Mayer, Cambridge Mayer, Karahgan Mayer, all of Lodi and 4 great grandchildren, Kelsey, Macie, Ashlee, Zachary Cooley of Stockton. He was preceded in death by 1 son Gregory Mayer in 1953, 1 sister, Doris Johnson in 1998. A private graveside service will be held Wednesday June 30, 2004, 10:00 am, followed by a memorial service at the Lodi Funeral Home at 11:00 am. Visitation will be held Tuesday 12:00 - 8:00 pm at the Lodi Funeral Home. Remembrances can be sent to the American Heart Assoc. 1212 W.
