Gladys Marie Bowles of Acampo passed away in Stockton at the age of 81 on June 16, 2004. Mrs. Bowles was born on March 28, 1923 in Red Oak, Oklahoma. She married James Bowles in 1941 in Mississippi, and was his beloved wife for 45 years. They moved to California in the late 1940?s. She worked for 45 years at the Thornton Cannery. She was a member of Ham Lane Church of Christ. She enjoyed sewing, dancing and fishing. Mrs. Bowles is survived by her sons, Larry Bowles and Michael Bowles of Acampo; 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; sisters, Rita Hackworth of Lodi, Cheryl Pace and Jamie Achee of Mississippi; brothers, Tommy Dye of Concord and Bobby Butler of Mississippi. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Bowles; sons, Harold Bowles and William Ed (Jimmy) Bowles; brothers, Delbert Dye, Mutt Dye and Claude Dye. A Chapel Service will be held on Wednesday at 2:00 PM at Lodi Funeral Home with Mr. Bruce Logue of Ham Lane Church of Christ officiating. A Committal Service will follow immediately at Cherokee Memorial Park. Visitation will be Monday and Tuesday from 8:00 AM until 8:00 PM at Lodi Funeral Home. Remembrances may be sent to Ham Lane Church of Christ, 600 s. Ham Lane, Lodi, CA 95240.
