Marie Grosshans of Lodi passed away in Lodi on May 14, 2004 at the age of 92. Mrs. Grosshans was born in Friedenstal, Bessararbia, Ukraine on February 3, 1912 to Karl and Maria Wieland. She moved to Poland in 1940 and then fled to Germany in January of 1945. She and her family moved to Lodi on May 14, 1952, and she has lived here since that time. She was employed by Pacific Coast Producers for approximately 25 years until her retirement. Mrs. Grosshans also was a local seamstress for many years. She enjoyed sewing, embroidering, crocheting, gardening, particularly flowers, and cooking. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Lodi. She is survived by her children; son,Werner and wife, Dorothy Grosshans of Jackson, son, Karl and wife, Robin Grosshans of Lodi, daughter, Edith and husband, Stanley Gruebele of Lodi; grandchildren; Kathleen Grosshans and husband, Preston Bach of Clifton, VA, Craig Grosshans of Las Vegas,NV, Denise Gruebele and husband, Robert Vermeltfoort of Fresno, Glen and wife, Amy Gruebele of Lodi, Susan Gruebele of Lodi, Michael Grosshans of Eureka,CA, and Kevin and wife, Katie Grosshans of Sullivan, WI.; 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded by her husband, Jacob Grosshans in 1964. A Chapel Service will be held on Friday at 10:00 AM at Lodi Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dennis Fakes of St. Paul Lutheran Church as officiant. Committal will immediately follow at Cherokee Memorial Park. Visitation at Lodi Funeral Home will begin on Wednesday at 12 noon until 8:00 PM and on Thursday from 8:00 AM until 8:00 PM.
