Mr. William "Bill" George Porto of Magalia and former resident of Lodi, passed away Saturday May 8, 2004 at his residence at the age of 73. Mr. Porto was born on August 5, 1930 in Sacramento, California to Manuel and Faye Porto. Mr. Porto owned and operated Bill?s Service Co., a partnership with North Valley Compression and later Western Compression in Rio Vista for the past 21 years. He had also worked for BC?s Service Co. in Rio Vista for 8 years. Bill attended Church of Christ in Rio Vista, had attended and graduated from Rio Vista High School Class of 1949. He was a United States Navy and Korean War Veteran. He was a member of the S.I.R.S. of Lodi and Magalia, the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge # 2227, and Elks Lodge # 4496 of Magalia. Bill was and avid Golfer and hunter of large game. He will be greatly missed He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Mrs. Charlotte Porto of Magalia, 1 son, Billy Porto and wife Cordie of Richmond, 2 daughters, Sherry and husband Ronnie McGranahan of Bakersfield, Terry and husband Art Gray of Benicia, 1 step-son John Perez of Lodi, 1 brother, Bob Porto of Antioch, 1 sister, Peggy James of Woodland, 1 daughter in-law Tina Aragon of Arbuckle. 9 grandchildren, Shawn Perez of Folsom, Jason Perez of Sacramento, Tifany, Jamie and Joanna McGrananhan of Bakersfield, Jeramie, Meagen and Christapher Dillon of Arbuckle, Alexandria Porto of Richmond, 3 great grandchildren Dominick and Thaliah Perez of Sacramento and Angelina Dillon of Redding. He was preceded in death by a step-son David Dillon in 2000. A chapel service will be held Wednesday May 12, 2004, 1:00 pm at the Lodi Funeral Home, followed by interment at the Lodi Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday 12:00 ? 8:00 pm at the Lodi Funeral Home. Remembrances can be sent to the American Cancer Society, 207 E. Alpine Ave. Stockton, CA 95204.
