Obituary of Paul R. Mayer

Mr. Paul R. Mayer a life long resident of Lodi passed away Monday March 29, 2004 in a Lodi hospital at the age of 81. Mr. Mayer was born April 14, 1922 in Lodi, California to Gus and Marie Mayer. He worked as a maintenance manager for the Robert Mondavi Winery, and formerly the Cherokee Winery Association for 42 years before retiring in 1987. He first came to the winery as a water-boy at the time of construction in 1936. He was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Lodi, a past Master of the Woodbridge Masonic Lodge in 1965, a member of the Scottish Rite of Lodi, Tokay Shrine of Lodi, High 12 Club of Lodi, and the Ben Ali Shriners Assoc. of Lodi. He enjoyed bicycling, machine work and spending time with his family and friends. He will be dearly missed. He is survived by his wife of 58 years Mrs. Gladys Mayer of Lodi, 1 son Ron Mayer and wife Alice of Lodi, 1 daughter, Judy LaRoe and husband Jim of Lodi, 1 sister Gladys Kranzler of Lodi, 4 grandchildren Jamie McDonald and husband Ben, Ben Mayer and wife Sarah of, Paul Tyler Mayer, Lynne Mayer, and great grandsons, Benjamin and Jackson McDonald all of Lodi A chapel service will be held Thursday April 1, 2004, 10:00 am at the Lodi Funeral Home followed by interment at the Lodi Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday 12:00 ? 8:00 PM at the Lodi Funeral Home.
