Ernestine N. "Erni" Nilssen was born November 15, 1920 in New York City, New York. She passed away February 7, 2004 in Lodi, California at the age of 83. A Veteran of the U.S. Navy (1942-43), Erni moved to California in 1946 first to Tracy where she lived from 1946 until 1981 and then settling in Lodi in 1981. She was a longtime member of the Lodi and Stockton Newcomers Club, the National Mahjong Association, and was the last surviving member of the Rollingwood Garden Club. She enjoyed painting in oils, gardening, cooking and listening to opera music, but her true joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Erni leaves to cherish her memory, her husband; Ragnar "Scotty" Nilssen of Lodi, daughter; Barbara Nilssen-Schwartz and her husband Robert of Lodi, sons; Michael Nilssen and his wife Jackey of Sacramento, and Steven Nilssen and his wife Lynn of Lodi. 5 grandchildren; Richard Dean and his wife Terri of Suisun City, Wesley Nilssen of Sacramento, Melissa Nilssen of Scottsdale, AZ., Jeff Mayer and his wife Marissa of Lodi, and Kyle Mayer and his wife Cindi of Lodi. 4 great-grandchildren; Joshau Dean and Samantha Dean of Suisun City, and Christian Mayer and Shania Mayer of Lodi, and her sister; Regina Weigand of Maryland. She was preceded in death by her son; Robert Nilssen and her sisters; Annie Lindsteadt, Elsbeth Pope, and Eleanore Nuth.
