Obituary of Ruth Rose Hagen-Masepohl

Ruth Rose Hagen-Masepohl was born August 1, 1909 in South Dakota to Gottlieb and Otilia Eiselen. She lived with her family until age 15 when she left the family home to go to work for Grandma Boone on the Boone Farm. She and Mrs. Boone became good friends and she learned a lot there. In October of 1930 she married Lester Hagen, they had a son, Gerald (Jerry) Hagen and they farmed in North Dakota until Lester was killed by a team of horses in June of 1939. It was very difficult for Ruth and Jerry to keep the farm going. In may of 1944 Ruth was remarried to Billy Masepohl. The couple settled in Lodi where they had a farm on Harney lane. Ruth worked locally at the cannery from 1950 until 1958. In 1958 she and Billy were divorced and Ruth moved in with her family until she was able to buy her own house on Oak St. She loved her home and spent many hours fixing it up and loved working in her yard. She worked locally for Mrs. Atkins from 1958 until 1962, the for seven years at Mason Hospital, and finally at Fairmont Rehab. Hospital for the next 18 years, that was her pride and joy. She is survived by her son; Gerald Hagen and his wife Betty, Granddaughter; Mary Lou Jenkins; Grandson; Robert Hagen and his wife Tresa, Great-grandchildren; Jamie Marie Jenkins, Stacie Melissa Jenkins, Joshua Ryan Hagen, and John Nicholas Hagen. Sister; Viola Mindt and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband; Lester Hagen, Parents; Gottlieb and Otilia Eiselen, sisters; Lillie, Diela, and Emma, and brothers; Gustaf, Walter, and Teddie. Ruth's family would like to thanks all of the Doctors and Nurses for the wonderful care she received at Fairmont, you all made her feel so at home, we all thank you for a job well done. Family and Friends are invited to attend Memorial Services on Saturday, December 6th at 10:00 a.m. at Lodi Funeral Home, 725 S Fairmont Ave with the Reverend Dennis Fakes of St. Paul Lutheran Church officiating. Inurnment will be at Goodrich City Cemetery, Goodrich, ND. In lieu of flowers Memorial Contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
