Obituary of Dolores Swearingen

Dolores Swearingen, 80, passed away on November 5, 2003. She had been a resident of Lodi for the past 38 years. Dolores Martolock Swearingen was born at her home in Palmyra, Michigan on February 7, 1923. She was educated in Adrian, Michigan and earned her BA at Siena Heights College in Adrian, Michigan. She began teaching in 1941, teaching for 22 years in Michigan. She moved to Lodi with her family in 1963. She began teaching for Lodi Unified School District at Leroy Nichols Elementary School in 1963, retiring in 1986. Mrs. Swearingen attended St. Paul Lutheran Church and enjoyed participating in the Ladies Circle Meetings. She enjoyed crafts, sewing, but most importantly, her greatest joy was her love for her three granddaughters and all the things that she did and shared with them. She is survived by daughters, Roberta Bailey and husband, Patrick of McKinney, Texas and Roxanne Hess and husband, Mike, of Lodi; granddaughters, Stacey Westerlund, Kristyn Bailey and Morgyn Bailey; sister, Betty Bowman of Blissfield, Michigan. She was preceded in death by brothers, Harry Martolock and Raymond Martolock. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 7th at 3:00 pm at Lodi Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dennis Fakes of St. Paul Lutheran Church officiating. There is no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 2680, North Canton, OH 44720 or to the St. Paul Lutheran Church of Lodi.
