Obituary of John Charles Tison

JOHN CHARLES TISON, 47, of Lodi, passed away on Sunday, November 2, 2003 at Lodi Memorial Hospital. He was born on May 7, 1956 in Lodi, California, the son of Charles and Betty Tison. He grew up in Walnut Grove with his parents and three brothers. He graduated from Delta High School where he was very involved in athletics and was Captain of the 1973 Saints Varsity Championship Basketball team. John had a passion for the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed scuba diving and golf. John coached youth basketball and was involved in other youth programs He was a member of both Ducks Unlimited, TREK, and National Rifleman's Association. He loved children and was very fond of animals. John was very kind, generous and compassionate. John is survived by his son and daughter, Jonathan Tison and Mallorie Tison of Woodbridge; mother Betty Tison-Mettler and husband Lloyd Mettler of Lodi; three brothers, Larry Tison of Glendale, Bruce Tison of Benicia, and Dennis Tison of Sacramento; step brother Brad Mettler of Lodi; step-sister Nancy Davis and her husband Paul of Lodi; sister-in-law Elena Tison of Sacramento; niece Lillian Tison of Glendale; nephew Caesar Tison of Sacramento and many other relatives in Northern California. John is preceded in death by this father, Charles Glen Tison, who was entered into rest on September 24, 2002. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 7, 2003, at Walnut Grove Community Presbyterian Church in Walnut Grove, 14120 Grand Avenue, Walnut Grove, CA.
