CECIL V. MUMBERT, Age 91, of Lodi, passed away on September 2, 2003 in Lodi following a brief illness. He was born in Claytonville, Illinois to James and Nora Mumbert. The family lived in Illinois until moving to Lodi where Cecil attended Lincoln School. He graduated from Lodi High School with the class of 1930. He attended Sacramento City College. Cecil and Evelyn Pauline Siegel were married in Sacramento on June 17, 1933 and made their home in Lodi. Cecil owned and operated J. W. Mumbert Concrete Pipe Company in Lodi, which was started by his parents. He and his father were pioneers in the local farming community, laying the foundation of irrigation for the area agri-businesses. He retired in 1968 when he sold the business. He and Evelyn traveled to many countries all over the world. He enjoyed big game trophy hunting in the Western United States, including Alaska and Yukon Territory. He also hunted in Canada, Africa and India. He also enjoyed woodworking, making furniture and cabinets. Cecil was a member and past president of Lodi Lions Club. Cecil was loving father of Jim Mumbert and wife, Nancy of Tahoe City CA, Joyce Harvey and husband Stu of Sacramento; Dearest Papa of Juliann and Rick Eskite, Laurie and Bill Koble, Tim Harvey, Bill and Sandy Mumbert, Mike and Kristine Mumbert, Erik Mumbert and Alicia Mumbert; Great-grandfather of eight. Preceded in death by his beloved wife of 68 years, Evelyn, on April 14, 2002. Cryptside services will be held at Cherokee Memorial Park on Monday at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Frank Mack of Family Life and Christian Church, Galt, CA officiating. Contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. Visitation at Lodi Funeral Home on Friday from noon to 8 P.M., Saturday and Sunday from 9 A.M. to 6 P.M., Monday from 8 A.M. to noon.
