Ruth Evelyn Kaylor, 91, entered into rest on June 18, 2003, at a Stockton nursing care facility. A native of Lebanon, Missouri, Ruth was born on July 9, 1911, the daughter of John Johnson and Daisy Burns Johnson. Ruth grew up in Springfield, Missouri, where she attended local schools. On December 16, 1933, Ruth married Paul Kaylor, a civil engineer, at Grant Avenue Baptist Church in Springfield, where the couple made their home. Their marriage was blessed with the birth of their daughter, Kaye. Mrs. Kaylor worked as a retail sales clerk for J.C. Penney's Department Store for about 20 years. She was a remarkable person, well known for her many talents, her kindness to others and her devotion to her church, where she served as pianist for the Junior Department (ages 9-12) at Grant Avenue Baptist Church. In 1963, her husband accepted a position as a consulting engineer for the firm of Michael Baker Consulting Engineering in Jackson, Mississippi. This position required extensive travel throughout the region, and Ruth accompanied her husband everywhere he traveled In 1975, Mr. Kaylor passed away, and Ruth chose to live near her daughter and son-in-law in Abilene, Texas. In 1986, she came to El Dorado Hills, California with her family, until 1991 when they moved to Lodi. Ruth is survived by her daughter, Kaye Reed, and her son-in-law, Rev. Michael G. Reed of Lodi; two grandchildren, Paula Kaye Davis and her husband John of Galt, and Michael Evan Reed and his wife Annette of Autryville, North Carolina; two nieces, Frances Spotswood of Springfield, MO and Carolyn Wiseman of Warner Robins, GA; two nephews, Paul Johnson of Chicago and Bill Johnson of Las Vegas, Nevada; a sister-in-law, Clarice Johnson of Chicago. She was preceded in death by her husband Paul Kaylor, in 1975. Friends are invited to call for visitation from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Sunday, June 22nd and Monday, June 23rd, at Lodi Funeral Home, 725 S. Fairmont Avenue in Lodi. The Celebration of Life Service will be at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, June 24, 2003 at Lodi Avenue Baptist Church, 2301 W. Lodi Avenue in Lodi. Rev. Michael G. Reed, Son-in-Law and former Pastor of Lodi Avenue Church, officiating. Interment will be private at Greenlawn Cemetery in Springfield, Missouri. A virtual register book may be signed at www.lodifuneralhome.com. Memorial contributions in Mrs. Kaylor's memory may be made to Prison Chaplaincy Ministry, c/o Rev.
