Obituary of Margarita Reducinda Spencer

Margarita Reducinda Spencer (Cervantes), 97, passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 19, 2003 in Galt, California. A native of Orange, California, Maragarita was a sixth-generation Californian, born on December 6, 1905 to pioneer lawman Teofilo Cervantes and his wife Maragarita Navarro. She was the last surviving child of the family's ten children. Margarita lived in Orange County for 96 years, and moved to Galt with her daughter during this last year. Those who knew and loved her Margarita will miss her wonderful stories and sense of humor. It brings great comfort to the family in this time of sorrow, to give thanks for having Margarita in the their lives, and to remember that "those whom we loved never really leave us, they live in our hearts forever." Margarita was preceded in death by her husband, Everett T. Spencer. She is survived by her son, Leon H. "Jack" Fish and his wife Mary Ann of Sandy, Utah, and their children, Daniel, Jonathan, Michael, their spouses and five great-grandchildren; her daughter and longtime caregiver, Flora R. Schramm and her children, William, Kathy, Robert, Nancy and Richard "Bimey", their spouses and twelve great-grandchildren. A celebration of Margarita's life will be held in Southern California at a later date. Inurnment will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Cypress, California.
