Bertha Diebert and her family lived in Herreid during my childhood years. We went to the same church. I knew her and her family well. Helen and her 'lil brother were around my age. Bertha was a good friend of my Mother, Amelia Bettger. I'm so sorry about her passing away. I know you will miss her. She was quite a wonderful lady.

Gloria saw this on the internet from Chandler, AZ and is writing to convey our deepest sympathies. Elmer has often wondered where Ed was living. We tried to locate him, but were unsuccessful. Elmer is now totally blind, but is doing well. Gloria is married to Kenneth Riley and is in the process of relocating to Kingman, AZ. She retired after 15 years as a 911 Communications Officer and supervisor and is now legally blind and on disability. Over the years we have spoke of your family and we share your loss. God Bless You Gloria Riley (928) 753-1574

Aunt Bertha was soneone I did not know much about as a youngster but I sensed from my parents (Ted and Lydia Deibert) that she was quite special to them. I think of her as being a pretty woman with beautiful red hair. I remember Uncle Ed often exchanging farm duties with my father and my recollection of Uncle Ed is of his cheerful nature. I had especially good feelings toward him. Uncle Ed and my father were putting up hay together when he died. I remember he was on top of the hay stack, I was 11 years old and running a buck rake with a team of horses and my dad was pitching the hay up to him. Uncle Ed told my dad that he "just didn't feel very well". It was a very hot day and my dad told him to come down and sit in the shade of the stack, which he did. Later my dad checked on him and he had passed away. It was a sad day for me.
